  1. I take it this isn't a serious possibility at the moment?
  2. Oh - what a shame. This is the reply I received from the Chapel Administrator: I'm sure there would be interest in recitals on this instrument.
  3. I've been keeping an eye on the various websites but have yet to see any mention of the recitals. Will keep watching!
  4. I would very much like to attend. Please count me in. Thanks - looking forward to it! Mark W.
  5. Worryingly, yes! I also answer to Mark. Looking forward to the day out.
  6. Yes please - I'd like to attend.
  7. Thanks for the suggestion. I have since been in touch with New College and the very helpful Chapel Administrator tells me that the Assistant Organist is planning a couple of "big recitals" very soon, so I will keep an eye open and let you know. It should also be advertised on one of the NC websites. Mark
  8. Does anyone know if recitals are still given on this instrument? I cannot find details of any. Listening during Evensong is, of course, wonderful but I would love to hear it as a solo instrument for an hour or so. Thanks, Mark
  9. Thank you, Both. I seem to have tracked a copy down so all is well. Thanks again, Mark
  10. I'm looking for a copy of The Organs of Oxford, Volume 2, in CD format. It's no longer in production but having enjoyed Volume 1 I'm keen to find a copy. Does anyone know where I could find it, second-hand or otherwise? With thanks, Mark
  11. I recently read Stephen Fry's autobiography, Moab is my Washpot. In this, he describes how he discovered how to change all the piston settings on the 3-manual organ in the school chapel. He gives a wonderful description of how the master playing for Sunday chapel service struggles with all sorts of unexpected noises and reactions as well as a view in the organist's mirror of the master desperatley trying to reset the settings during the sermon! I recommend reading this book, if only for this wonderful tale.
  12. Thank you to everyone who organised this open day. I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and was most impressed with this new and refreshing instrument. Well done! Mark Walker
  13. I managed to obtain a copy of this excellent recording yesterday, direct from Magdalen College. If you look at the Magdalen College website there are ordering instructions. It looks like it's also possible to collect in person at the lodge. Needless to say, I'm enjoying listing to it - superb.
