I emailed Cousans and asked them if they had the specification of this instrument, unfortunately they did not have one but told me that it's unlikely they will be going there again as the tunings have been cancelled. If anyone has details of this instrument I would be interested to see them.

If I remember correctly GTB loved the Rothwell console at the Temple Church.

I quite agree with Quentins comments about the firm which carried about a Bad rebuild on the organ in his church, they did the same at St Michaels Tividale totally ruining a perfectly good Peter Conacher instrument.

MM Have you come across St Lukes Cradley Heath? Its a large 3 manual extension organ, but sadly most of it doesnt work. Jack Ivey who worked for Comptons told me the history of this organ. Comptons were building a new organ for the church which was destroyed when their factory was bombed, they did however manage to provide a Cinema organ duly voiced to fit the church. It was too large for the bulding but made a lovely sound in either guise!!! I wish Jack was still alive to help you more, his knowledge was immense. Best wishes Barrie

I have 2 instances recently where I have received no fee for a wedding and funeral even though my contract states that I should have, I even quoted the relevent pages from Barry Williams book to the incumbent. The whole area is a nightmare and wish in some way matters were clearer, his argument over the funeral was the family had not entered into a contract with me to play but had engaged the services of another organist who the family wanted. I am rather aggireved over the whole matter.

They did some work on Yardley Parish Church in Birmingham, it was a rebuild of an Aeolian, the work was done in 1955, all I can say a most peculiar organ. It has now been replaced. Barrie

Theres a firm in Stratford on Avon who may have some Walker droplets available, its worth a try.

Hi Look at Clive Shropshire, this organ is superb for what it is and was indentical to the Willis on wheels in St Pauls before the rebuild by our hosts. I suspect NPOR are wrong with the organ in Montgomery as the Harmonic Flute would be 4 and not 8 as stated. Barrie

BBC News has shown pictures of the Cathedral and also footage of parts of the spire collapsing after the main shock, the damage to the City looks terrible, can we hold in prayer the souls of the people who lost their lives, their families and all the people who have been affected by this terrible disaster. I know they are fearing after shocks. I hope and pray that members of this forum who live in Christchurch, are safe. Barrie

The Cramer is far better Ive been using mine since 1992 and apart from worn page turns the binding is still good.

I hope when the organ is restored in Hull Parish Church that the Compton lighted stops will remain, the only other instrument I can recall with these is Downside Abbey.
