  1. I can't begin to understand why church musicians, and perhaps especially British church musicians, feel some sense of duty to sharpen their pens and take deadly aim at John Rutter's music. It is what it is. If it isn't your cup of tea, just simply don't make use of it. Why the necessity to disparage Rutter's work? Is the success he has enjoyed somehow offensive to people? (My comments are of a general nature and not in response to any specific message.)
  2. The finest recording I have is THE WORLD OF PSALMS - St. John's College Choir, Cambridge, George Guest on the Decca label 452-941-2. This compilation recording of eighteen psalms is revelatory in that it illustrates how Dr. Guest's approach to the psalms changed over the years. The first five tracks are from the 1960's, the final twelve from 1978. Simply brilliant.
