It doesn't seem to be available to buy over here (I tried earlier in the year but Wayne Leupold has no UK distributor). If anyone knows otherwise, please let me know.

    Paul

Google throws up stockists in UK.

  2. Search online for balsa wood, which should be available in 38mm x 38mm.

Work out the measurements you need (you may need to cut/saw to size) then glue pieces together with wood glue.

You will also need a tough non-slip material on both top and bottom to stop the bench sliding off!

    Hope this is helpful.

  3. Darius, thank you for your recital today and indeed for the introductions to each piece. Disappointing though that we couldn't see you working instead of  the static picture of the Town Hall and the organ case. I overlooked the time, so caught it about an hour later. Was that perhaps the reason for the static picture?

Just watched the Southwell Minster Carol service online - and wonderful it was! I was wondering why the screen organ has been wrapped in plastic? I can't find any mention of building work happening in the church on their website or anywhere else - mind you, that could be because I'm a Luddite...

New to me was the interesting arrangement of 'Ding Dong! Merrily on high'. Anyone know who wrote it?

I agree.  I'm not being flippant, I really am not, but where organs are on a gallery at the west end of the nave, why can't the seats (or even pews) be turned around.  I should mention, I suppose, that as I am an atheist the organ is far more important to me than an altar.

Perhaps a compromise, such as what is frequently found in the Netherlands: seating in the nave facing the middle aisle; side on to both altar and organ.

In answer to your question, though, I suppose we usually only ever see the back of conductors!

Hallgrimskirkja in Reykjavik have the problem sorted. The backs of the seats there adjust, to enable the congregation/audience to face either east or west, depending on service or recital.
