  2. A belated response, I think Elvin mentions James Berrow in response to John Nicholson investigations, not John Compton. Ian Bell should do that one.
  3. It's spelled Whinfield, Arthur Henry. A longer biog appears in: Berrow, James, ‘Excavating Arthur: searching the life of Arthur Henry Whinfield, a past-President of the WAS.’ Transactions of the Worcestershire Archaeological Society, third series, volume 27 (113‒126).
