  1. Something like there was in W........ ?
  2. Yes, in Haarlem you'll find a protestant church St.Bavo in the centre (at the market), which houses the Muller organ (which is a property of the city, not the church). Then you'll find a RomanCatholic cathedral basilica of St.Bavo at the canal (somewhat out of the centre) build in the 20th century, which houses the Adema organ (which came from Amsterdam) Confusing indeed: the protestant did away with Saints and many other 'catholic' things, but keep names related to churches (Grote- of St. Bavokerk) and sundays (like 'sunday Jubilate' - referring to the old gregorian introitus, which they don't sing).
  3. Best wishes to all - with a smile!
  4. I've got this VHS tape - the E.M. Skinner slapstick at the end is funny (EMS' large car get's stuck on railwaycrossing - that kinda thing ;-)) btw. nice to see Widor smiling as ever
  5. For the record: the historic snippets are made by E.M. Skinner (yes, that one)
  6. Sounds a bit like orgelpark.nl in Amsterdam.
  7. Nice music, if I'm not mistaken he's somehow connected (teacher?) to Jean Guillou. Heavy recording by Henri-Franck Beauperin on 'his' organ in Angers (which sounds a bit like the 1970's NDdP).
  8. Sure! Get Thomas Trotter's disc on Birm TH's Hill organ; superb ...
  9. Which sound quite like Sidney Torch's birdwhistles. That would be even more fun
  10. We could start betting on it ...
  11. I like Rousseau's music; it's subtle, poetic and not so boring to me as Franck. There's a nice recording on a Stolz organ in Spain.
  12. Try 'Pentecote' by Raphael Fumet - recorded by Henri-Franck Beauperin.
  13. Hmm, yes of course, sorry for the typo (not a native speaker)
  14. Interesting indeed, but I'm not sure if I really like that cymbalsound. Could be useful to sonically clean your teeth
  15. Yes, we do; there are two organs. the 'great organ' (above West entrance) is mentioned above. The Hill organ has the same age as most of the pipework of the great organ, which though voiced well, has a limited use due to power, compass and stoplist. We might enlarge it (in style) if money provides ...
  16. It's 'mine' and rather inadequate for our situation, not to mention the 'authentic' comfort at the console ...
  17. 'Useless', 'wastefull', 'limit' ... What about this one, rather exemplary for Maarschalkerweerds in Holland 1890-1910's Great: Bourdon16 Prestant8 Roerfluit8 Salicionaal8 Octaaf8 Gemshoorn4 CornetII-III Trompet8 Swell: Holpijp8 Viola8 Aeoline8 (now a 2 2/3) Voix celeste8 (now a 2') Flute harm.4 Pedal: Subbas16 Octaaf8 Fluit4 Bazuin16 Oh, and just guess where it is ... More later - work ...
  18. Not quite: in Rotterdam the Laurenskerk went down (not a Cathedral) - but it did loose the biggest organ in Holland...
  19. Practice ... I've heard that word before, must have been a while ...
  20. Have it shipped to Holland, repaired and propably very much appreciated (like 'mine').
  21. The Worcester ones also give an amazing opportunity to view the organ being removed
  22. Reviewed on 'orgelnieuws.nl', good, solid but all on 'the safe side', as
  23. His name is Peter van de Velde
  24. Bach's Air - as transcribed by Karg-Elert. Nice for christmas eve ;-)
