Peter Clark
Did anyone catch the "Jazz Matins" on Radio 4 this morning? Despite my previous post about children yearning to learn "proper" curch music, I thought this broadcast was high on the "wow" register. Mind you, I love good jazz as much as anything. Peter Yes, I heard this and there is no doubt that is was good music well executed - considerably more challenging than the Twentieth Century Church Light Music group, Songs of Fellowship, (Spinners and Seekers in ecclesiatical garb) and the dreaded Taize. Also, it was nice to hear Morning Prayer (Matins) from The Book of Common Prayer, which gets little notice from the BBC in its current mode - with seriously ('pc') altered words of hymns. Peter I caught it and enjoyed it too - well done Roderick W.! I liked the Te Deum particularly [and the jazz responses].
