I would like to bring to your attention that Martin Stacey of St Dominic's Priory, is attempting to save a 1860's Bryceson. I paste below the details.

Alan

As some of you already know, for the past two years I have been trying to save an organ built in the 1860's by Bryceson of London, which was being thrown out of a church in the West Country.

The instrument has been promised a good home within a mile of where it was built, but I urgently need to raise a relatively small amount of money in a short space of time for this to be possible as the original funding was withdrawn.

If you would be interested to know more about this project or could offer any suggestions, I should be most grateful to hear from you. I should also be grateful if you could pass this information to anybody you think might be able to help.

Full details can be found on my homepage www.martinstacey.com where you can download a pdf file about the "Bryceson Organ Appeal".

Many thanks,

Martin Stacey

The Father Willis in St Dominic's Priory, Belsize Park is indeed a wonderful instrument. If you are intending to attend any of the recitals Alan has listed, I would recommend you go along in the Spring/Summer months rather than in the Autumn or Winter. The last time I attended a recital there when Martin Stacey was playing, it was actually colder inside the church than outside and by the end of the recital for most members of the audience the onset of hypothermia had begun!

Alan

I do hope that the fundraising is succesful. Sounds like a great project to support.

My local paper ran an article about the organ, but I cannot remember the name of the organ builders who are involved, but good luck to them.

Colin Richell.
