Opinions please? Actually, you mean bars 39 and 40, don't you? I have the Urtext-edition (Breitkopf) which has no tie at the point in question. I prefer it untied because it emphasizes the harmonic change between the two bars. But perhaps this is an error in the manuscript which found its way into the complete edition.
