Ditto this one - St John's Upper Norwood - http://npor.emma.cam.ac.uk/cgi-bin/Rsearch...ec_index=D06615 . A brief history can be found at http://www.stjohn-uppernorwood.org.uk/.

I don't think I've seen this organ mentioned on this board before - is anyone familiar with it?

Yes. Superbly restored 8 years ago by H&H, and situated in a glorious Pearson church, it's on my shortlist of the best of South London's organs; it can be heard on at least two CDs. Monthly Saturday organ recitals have been a feature since the restoration, and the next is on Saturday 8 September at 1830 hours. There's a Lewis at St Luke's, Kingston-upon-Thames - with key-touches - though in need of sympathetic restoration, and for which an appeal has been launched.

Forgive the digression (pace John Sayer), but vying for a place on my South London shortlist are the organs in two Croydon churches (St John Baptist aka Croydon Parish Church and St Michael & All Angels), and All Saints, Tooting Graveney.

Indeed I was quite familiar with it before its rebuild/restoration when I sang as a student Tenor in the choir most Sundays during Term Time before I got my first job in London. (Jonathan Gregory - now Master of the Music at Leicester Cathedral was a Bass at the same time. Fun and fine days.) High Mass in the morning and Evensong and Benediction at the end of the day. Magical moments. Big settings and with a boys' top line. I believe Comper had lived nearby and (tell me if I'm wrong), some vestments were of his design. Rather a wonderful (I thought at the time) harmonium in the South Transept, or thereabouts. Adrian Adams was the Assistant in my days and who is now carrying on the good works started from the earliest of days of this splendid church. Visit it.

Best wishes,

Nigel

Has anyone else read this fascinating piece of information, regarding the settings for the original 'key-touches' - as set by T.C. Lewis - on his organ at Southwark Cathedral?

It provides an interesting insight into how registration on this instrument was envisaged at the time of its inception.

I somehow missed this interesting thread which has now been inactive for a few months. However, it is also interesting to note that Lewis's original key touch settings remain on his organ in Kelvingrove, Glasgow. Details of these in the following information.
