Peter Allison
As a newcomer to this forum and as a "non playing" organ lover, I was wanting to know if anyone knows if Manders made a video diary of the rebuild at the Albert Hall, and if its going to released. I am trying to get a hold of a good copy of Gillian Weirs early BBC Tv series "The King of Instrements" and any other Organ related dvd/video product. John Robinson
I, too, would like a good quality recording of 'The King of Instruments'. I did record it on to VT when first broadcast, but the quality is not what I would like. I did, some time ago, contact the BBC to ask whether they could sell me a recording, but no. I think it's enough that they actually produced a series of programmes about the organ, and to publish a recording, preferably DVD, would be too much to expect! If you should discover a DVD of this programme series, please be so good as to let me know. John
pcnd5584
No, sorry - but I did see a flying pig yesterday. Actually, I think that edited highlights were at least available at the time on CD, but if that is correct, you would probably have to trawl around e-bay in order to acquire a copy. John Robinson
Yes, they were, but these amounted only to one or two pieces extracted from each of the six programmes and, as far as I know, did not include any of the dialogue. Just another organ music CD (not that I have anything against them!), and not a documentary/educational programme.
Peter Allison
Yes, it does seem I am out of luck, A friend of mine in Doncaster (David Rogers) has copied me his vt, but the quality is not very good. I did recentley get a dvd of Melbourne Town Hall which is excellent, thanks for the feedback
