Guest Hector5
I'm trying to get hold of a copy of Sportive Fauns by Dezso D'Antalffy-Zsiross for organ. It's a fun and rather nice piece of music. The Sibbley Music library has only one of the four pieces, and frustratingly not this one! Does anyone in 'Manderspace' have a copy of this that they would be prepared to scan, provide a photocopy or even sell me one? In anticipation. Hector Dear Hector, a quick Google on the web shows that this piece is in the repertoire of James Welch and Cherry Rhodes in the USA and D'Arcy Trikwon and Malcolm Rudland in the UK. Since nobody here has rushed to supply you with a copy (I would suggest this is only coz we don't have it!!) maybe you might approach one of the above. Since the composer is still alive, one could track him down too? Sometimes one can get lucky with such a request. I've been trying to coax a copy of something I heard on the net out of its (Amnerican) composer but no luck so far. Maybe he's tired of getting requests. If someone asked me for a copy of one of my compositions I would probably be flattered, this gent is obviously not. Good luck with your hunt anyway, sounds like fun! P. Guest Cynic
You sure? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dezs%C5%91_Antalffy-Zsiross In error again!! Life as a teacher leads one to make quick decisions based upon flimsy evidence and present guesswork or opinions confidently as fact. Obviously I apologise as usual. You (and everyone else) must view everything I say in future with a certain amount of scepticism. I am flattered that you did not already do so. I made the assumption that because A-Z doesn't yet appear in my second Bible - John Henderson's utterly magnificent tome - that he must be a recent composer. Because I presumed him to be a recent composer, I naturally wished him a long life and happiness. I am sorry he has already joined Adolf Schiklgruber and Albert Schweitzer in the hereafter. Did he write anything else worth tracking down (and this public humiliation)?
Vox Humana
You should worry! I was under the impression that he was a she! Something to do with having somewhere seen the Christian name spelt Désiré, I think. Or maybe it was just that the scotch was particularly palatable that night. The late lamented IMSLP had a copy of his Scène pastorale, which seemed at a cursory glance to be very attractive.
Guest Hector5
Yes - advice of how to pronounce his name would be handy, especially as I have just managed to break my bridge (teeth!!!) 5 minutes before heading off to the coalface. The following website may be of interested to most of you https://urresearch.rochester.edu/handle/1802/291. Go into the website, and then type organ or orgue, and have a nervous breakdown!!!!!!!! There's some fabulous stuff there and it is gradually being updated. Enjoy!!! Hector

Hector Speaking of this composer, does anyone know where to find a copy of his piece 'Madonna - a stained glass window'? I heard it at a recital by Laszlo Attila Almasy half way through the year but have had no success finding it. JA
