Jacques-nicolas Lemmens

Recommended Posts

I’m trying to track down the publishers and where to obtain the scores for the following pieces by Jacques-Nicolas Lemmens:

Prélude à 5 parties (Grave) in E flat major

Cantabile (Allegretto) in B minor

Would be grateful for any ideas.

Could these movements be included in his Organ School? If so, I have a copy, deep in the mouldering heaps.

Pierre will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm afraid 19th century Belgian organ music is more than likely to be firmly out of print.

I recently came across a reprint/reissue of Lemmens' excellent Triumphal March, it had been ruthlessly simplified by an editor. The only reason I could see for this was that [heavily modified] it would then become his copyright.

Here is a list featuring the original editions:

....With that, it is possible to commence to search.

Free to download there is but few things save the "Fanfare"...

I open a thread on the french forum about these scores.

Hello,

yes, the Prélude à 5 parties (Grave) in E flat major is from Lemmen's Organ school.

One source is "Liber Organi: Selected pieces of the romantic period, Band 14", edited by Hermann J. Busch at Schott, ED 7509.

Cheers
