kropf
What a harvest! Returning from Holiday (having had a "Night in Tunisia" for two weeks and did even find, but not play, a Mutin-Cavaillé-Coll in the Cathedral of the Capital Tunis...), I was thinking about posting into the German Orgelforum about music with a connection to "bells", as we may have a re-inauguration of ancient bells (1290, 1409, 1540) after repair next year, but in the Mander forum it is all ready-to-read... It may be felt inappropriate here, but are there suggestions for vocal/choral music touching carillons or the sound of bells, too? On board or via PM - thanks to everybody. AJJ
I have a dim memory (in fact most seem to be these days!) of a church somewhere with a small keyboard just by the organ console where one could also play the tower bells from - 'some interesting possibilites there!! sbarber49
Talking of which, wouldn't it be fun to have a go on a real carillon ! ! ! I once entertained the citizens of Mechelin (I think it was) with a performance of the Neighbours theme tune on the carillon. My biggest audience ever! timothyguntrip
'Cloches' by Marcel Fournier is an ingenious little gem as well - got a recording of this at La Madeleine, Paris by Carolyn Shuster-Fournier - not sure if the piece was ever published, as never seen a reference to it anywhere and this seems to be the only recording of it. Guest Cynic
'Cloches' by Marcel Fournier is an ingenious little gem as well - got a recording of this at La Madeleine, Paris by Carolyn Shuster-Fournier* - not sure if the piece was ever published, as never seen a reference to it anywhere and this seems to be the only recording of it. Members of the Organ Club heard Mme C S-F playing this little item in Paris, La Trinite this spring. She was very keen to pass copies on, so if you're keen to acquire this item, PM me and I can let you have her e-mail address.
timothyguntrip
Many thanks to the forum members who assisted me with the Fournier piece - what a forum full of wonderful people! To add to the list of carillon-type works, there are a few by the Belgian composer Paul Barras: - Carillon de Mehaigne - Carillon de Strassen - Carillon de Schuttrange - Introduction et Carillon You can see a sample page for these (and other) works at the following address: http://www.bayard-nizet.com/Cat_Claviers_fr.html VA
