Jim Treloar
He played at Victoria Hall Hanley last year, an amazing performance, I think it was his only recital in the UK in 2010. See him at Bloomsbury if you're able. Another star performer at Victoria Hall today (Saturday), Nathan Laube - see him on youtube as well, fantastic technique. davidh
Good news, but wouldn't it be wonderful to hear a Spanish organist playing Spanish organ music, if only there was an instrument in the UK really suitable for it.
John Collins
Good news, but wouldn't it be wonderful to hear a Spanish organist playing Spanish organ music, if only there was an instrument in the UK really suitable for it. Yes, I quite agree that this would be marvellous, (José Luís González Uriol was here about 9 years ago) but 1: I do not know of any instrument that is ideally suited to the highly idiosyncratic Iberian repertoire and 2: I gather from my Iberian colleagues that many of the young performers are not as interested in their native heritage as in having feet and hands flying around to make a visual impact (could also apply to the UK!!) . This year is 400th anniversary of birth of Bruna and 250th of Tómas Ciurana, next year will see the 300th anniversary of the death of Cabanilles - will anyone else be commemorating these important anniversaries???
