Healey Willan - Epilogue

The above was written before HW emigrated to Canada for an event in St Albans Abbey and helped to establish his reputation - really quite a fine piece! Now alas out of print but if anyone can help please contact.

Many Thanks

Thanks for that - I shall give it a go sometime soon. Also early (pre-Canada) Willan is a Communion Service in G - very soupy and with a Wagnerian organ part. We do it from time to time, but the choir likes it more than I do. Quite different from his unaccompanied missae brevae, which are really fine (we did Missa Brevis III this morning) - about the same difficulty as Wood in the Fridge, but much better music.

There's a good recording of the piece here - in fact the rest of the CD is good too. In nice acoustic even an instrument constructed of seemingly disparate parts (albeit well voiced) can sound good! The playing is fine too. It's also available on iTunes.
