The way we used to be taught

In another thread, mention was made of the reasons why the organ had great popularity at one time, and the following is actually an article which appeared in a Boy's Science book in 1935.

 

I came into the world somewhat later than this, but I'm afraid my boyhood was all Meccano, chemistry sets, dabbling with battery powered electric motors and pouring over split-open diagrams of nuclear submarines and such. Mending motor-bikes and cars came later.

 

I'm always grateful for the fact that this was the way I was taught.
