I realise that this is one of the longest of long shots, but do any of you happen to have a copy of this organ piece, published by Novello in 1884, and, if so, could I possibly beg a copy, please?

I have a large collection of Victorian music but regrettably, I have never come across this piece. Any point in asking Novello if they can print a copy off? They certainly used to do this sort of thing. Good luck!

Sounds like an interesting curio if one happened to be playing a Hele organ. I don't think we've got any here in Newfoundland - non-Casavants consist mostly of Bevingtons, Forster & Andrewses, Cassons, a solitary N&B and an Estey.

Thanks for that suggestion, Martin. I see that such requests are handled by the Music Sales Group so I will give them a try in the morning. If all else fails, I know the British Library has a copy, but any other alternative would be easier.

I think I'd settle for Reading Town Hall with some digital reverb added. The year before this march was published Hele had been appointed Plymouth's first Borough Organist with custody of the four-manual Willis in the Guildhall. Its original spec was quite similar to Reading. I'll bet he first played the piece at the Guidhall.
