S_L Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I don't, entirely, approve of this thread but this seems to have been overlooked: From Brecon Cathedral The Dean and Chapter are delighted to announce the appointment of a new Director of Music for Brecon Cathedral. Mr David Stevens is presently the Director of Music at the Church of All Saint’s, Hove. He has previously held various cathedral appointments at Wells, Guildford, St George’s, Belfast and Newcastle Cathedrals. David studied music at Oriel College, Oxford and gained a Master’s Degree in choral conducting from the Royal Academy of Music, London and was awarded the Irene Burcher Prize on the completion of his degree. He is also an elected Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. David brings with him considerable experience as an organist and choir conductor, and we look forward to welcoming him to this challenging role in September.

I don't think it enhances our knowledge of the instrument or its repertoire and it can easily become a vehicle for idle gossip!! Just my opinion!!
sbarber49 Posted April 14 Author Posted April 14 Reporting appointments of organists to important positions, that are in the public domain is not idle gossip. Nobody is obliged to read threads that they don't find interesting. Personally I find this information very interesting so please keep it coming!

I never said that it was! I said that it can easily become a vehicle for idle gossip! I noticed that the appointment to Brecon was announced on the 3rd of April. Four other appointments have been mentioned here since then but not Brecon - can't have been important enough!!!!!
OwenTurner Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Well, I heard that that the dean of Brecon isn't the easiest to work with. I hope the previous incumbent left on good terms. Anyone in the know?
