Martin Cooke 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 Does anyone know what is happening with the organ here? I read somewhere that as part of a whole restoration project the organ is to be dismantled and refurbished but also that a new quire organ is to be provided. David Wells is doing the work which will be completed in 2017. Does anyone know what the scope of the quire organ is to be?
JohnR 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2015 You're basically right Martin. I don't know much about what is intended other than that the chancel division is going to be replaced. Slightly ironically, this division was refurbished by the Shepherd brothers (of Edgware) just a few years ago. This part of the present organ contains the most recent pipework. I think it was new when the rest of the organ went to the cathedral in the early sixties. John R
David Drinkell 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2015 It seems sensible, though, to have a chancel division that is primarily useful for accompanying the choir in more than baroque verse anthems!
