Dee Surtees
Does anyone know anything about this composer? We're singing St Stephen on Sunday, which is apparently written by him, but I don't know anything else about him. The Wikipedia entry (if it is the same William Jones) doesn't say much about his musical activities.
David Drinkell
He was Vicar of Nayland on the Suffolk border. The organ there was acquired in his time from Canterbury Cathedral when Samuel Greene installed a new instrument there and still has a lot of old pipe-work. William Jones was a noted theologian and writer.

Dee Surtees
It may interest you to know that I publish William Jones of Nayland's Ten Church Pieces (Op.2) for Organ Manuals. Further details can be found at my website www.impulse-music.co.uk/fitzjohnmusic Thank you for drawing this to my attention. I shall have a look at that. I did look in your OUP 18th century organ music collections but no William Jones in there.
