Martin Cooke
Interesting to note that from today, two of our most important cathedrals (Canterbury and York) are without their pipe organs for quite a while, with Salisbury joining them in January. Do we know if major work is scheduled for any other cathedrals or major churches over the next couple of years?

Choir Man
Harrisons also list St Machar's Aberdeen on their list of current projects as well as cathedrals in Benoni South Africa and Adelaide Australia. They have York and (according the cathedral's website) Salisbury on the way. They are clearly very busy and must have some system to ensure the various bits of teh different instruments don't get mixed up. By the way here are two interesting photos from their website of the double open wood in sections prior to transportation ... and with builders in-situ... DaveHarries
I think the work on Bristol Cathedral will start sometime early next year as, in the meantime, there is the enthronement of the new Bishop of Bristol (who, for anyone wondering, is to be the now Rt. Rev. Vivienne Faull, lately dean of York) followed by Christmas to contend with. Info on the organ project can be found on Bristol Cathedral's website: https://bristol-cathedral.co.uk/music/organ-and-sound/ Dave
Martin Cooke
Any idea as to who will be undertaking this work, Dave?
Paul Walton
Bristol will be going out to tender soon and, once decisions are made, there will be an announcement as to who is doing the work and when it will start. As you may have seen, we've been very lucky with a major donation. Paul Walton (Assistant Organist, Bristol)
Dee Surtees
St Mary's Episcopal, Edinburgh is to be restored next year, also by Harrison's. They had an organ gala last night in celebration of the organ, but I wasn't able to make it.
Martin Cooke
Amazing - York, Salisbury, Canterbury and Edinburgh all in Durham at the same time!
