Sunday 1 Sep 19 - Online Silent Auction - 30 Pipes from the Grand Organ York Minster

Recommended Posts

I am writing to you on behalf of York Minster fund and the Chapter of York. I was hoping you’d be able to pass this information on to interested parties in your community, perhaps through the Mander Organs forums:

Commencing on September 1st, we will be hosting an online silent auction of 30 pipes from the Grand Organ. Dating from 1832, each is a true piece of musical and ecclesiastical history, and would be a unique item for organ specialists to own.

The Organ is currently undergoing a £2million refurbishment, and these pipes unfortunately cannot be restored to voice. They remain beautiful artefacts, and the auction will raise important funds to protect the other 5,373 pipes (or 5,374 now we’ve got that stolen one back!), ensuring that music stays at the heart of York Minster.

This kind of organ restoration only happens once every century, and there are only 30 pipes available. This really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, not to sound cliché.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in contact.

Yours faithfully,
