Chris Woollard
I have several students asking for key touch weights for tracker organs, large and small. Has anyone ever measured this for new or old organs?. I can only give qualitative answers. Is the action of the coupler generally the sum of the uncoupled weights. Any result very much appreciated. Guest Geoff McMahon
We have taken readings from a number of our own instruments and if people are interested, I would be happy to send a .pdf file of those values. Just send me an e-mail to ManderUK@mander-organs.com and I will send a copy. You will see from those figures that the coupled weight is less than the sum of the two (or more) manuals coupled. This is achieved by both leverage and by having the coupled manual playing just fractionally behind the manual being coupled to.
