I saw a topic on another forum, which was a "game" to write a story using verses from the psalms, anthems, hymns etc - each "poster" adding something.

How about putting a recital programme together in a similar way - with reasons for that choice at that point in programme.?

Here's my starter:

1. Praetorius arr Rawsthorne - Ballet des Matelotz (Attention - grabber)

2. Praeludium in F - Dietrich Buxtehude (the one with echos in the fugue subject)

Splendid work, not too light not too heavy. Terrific into for your average audience: the likely plug-ugliness of Buxtehude's daughter - both Bach and Handel turned her down, and with that act forfeited the chance of becoming Buxtehude's sucessor.

P.S. if you need to avoid two major key pieces in succession - how about the Gm Praeludium instead?
