MusingMuso
This may get removed from the board for legal reasons, but I was digging among the piporg-L archives, looking at Early Italian organs and things, and came across a delightful exchange between an American Organ Builder and an Italian one. Attending a seminar about early Italian instruments, John Brombourgh approached the lecturer afterwards. The lecturer was the Italian organ-builder Rufatti, and Bromborough said to him, "You seem to know what you're talking about, so why do your organs sound so terrible?" Rufatti (a bit flustered) replied, "Because we build them the way the Americans want them"
David Coram
Rufatti (a bit flustered) replied, "Because we build them the way the Americans want them" ... a certain Mr V Fox being among their early customers and USA consultants/agents, personally overseeing the voicing of at least one of their earliest USA jobs...
