  1. Do they sell the Cubus separately and how would one connect it to the pedalboard?
  2. Thanks for the information, I will look this up ASAP. Don't worry about the english words, I will only be playing, not singing!!!! JE
  3. Hi folks, just started to learn this for the first time at the local choral society, was absolutely blown over by the fugal section at the end of the third or fourth movement, all done over a pedal point on D, played by the double basses I presume. Now, being a pedal point addict (easier to play, don't you know) I wondered if there was an organ transcription out there, ideally about grade V or VI standard. Yes, I could work it out from the full score but I ain't that good. Any ideas?
  4. Yay, folks, have just about recovered from the organ playing marathon. Due to illnesses, long term deputizing, etc, I did 7 services over the last two weekends: 18th Dec: 9.30 Communion 3.00 Carol Service 6.30 Carol Service 24th Dec: 5.30 Crib and Christingle 11.15 midnight Communion 25th Dec: 9.30 Family Service 11.15 Family Service Yes, I know the repertoire is all the same but the sheer concentration of sitting on a hard organ bench for x hours is purgatory! And as none of our group of churches has WC facilities I have to watch the fluid intake to enable performances to take place "in comfort". And I don't like being thirsty. Anyone do more than this?
  5. Hi folks, I have been reading the forum for a long time now with much interest, and would like to pose a question. For a few years in the late 80's I had organ lessons from Frank Bradbeer and learnt much about the state of organ building in the UK before Maurice Grant appeared on the scene. One thing that Frank said, which always amazed me, was that any young apprentice who showed an interest (or ability) to play the organ was ostracized by the old hands and almost had to leave the firm. Apparently this was not restricted to GDB and was even worse in other firms of the "old school". With at least two senior partners of successful UK builders having RCO qualifications at present, the scene has presumably changed, obviously for the better. Can any correspondents offer an explanation as to why the old attitudes were so strongly held, and indeed if the situation has improved as much as I think it has?
