Guest Lee Blick
I went last year with a group of non-organists and including some children and an enjoyable time was had by all. The programme looks similar to last years. Definately sitting downstairs this time because we were literally blasted out upstairs and it scared a couple of the younger children. There are a couple of interesting concerts involving the organ in the Proms this year. Elgar and Buxtehude, I think. I have just noticed there is a recital at the RAH to be given by Oliver Latry on Friday 29th June which looks very interesting.
bombarde32
I have just noticed there is a recital at the RAH to be given by Oliver Latry on Friday 29th June which looks very interesting. I've just had the flyer through for this. Programme as follows: Bach: Sinfonia fr. Cantata 29 (trans. M Dupré) Widor: March of the Night Watchman Berlioz: Hangarian March (Trans. Büsser) Alkan: Prière Franck: Choral No. 3 in A Minor Guilmant: Final fr. Sonata No. 1 Dupré: Choral on 'In dulci jubilo'. Rachmaninov: Prelude (not sure which one - prob. the ubiquitous c# Minor) Trans. Vierne Vierne: Final fr. Symphonie No. 3 Latry: "Improvisation". Looks interesting - what do you think? Vox Humana
Looks rather "bitty" to me. People may well appreciate the variety though.
parsfan
Looks rather "bitty" to me. People may well appreciate the variety though. Yes, one complete large work would have been welcome. Lets hope his improvisation will be better than the one he gave at his recital at the RFH. I fear that, like many improvisers, his art declines outside the liturgical environment. Worth noting that Roth is at Southwark on the 27th June: Wednesday 27 June, 7.30pm - Daniel Roth (organ) Widor: Symphonie 7: Final, Choral Lefébure-Wely: Offertoire sur un Noël en fa majeur, Sortie en sol mineur Clérambault: Récits de cromorne et de cornet séparé en dialogue, Basse et Dessus de Trompette, Flûtes Nivers: Offerte en fugue et dialogue Widor: Symphonie 8: Adagio in F# major Daniel Roth: Fantaisie fuguée sur Regina caeli Grunenwald: La mélodie intérieure Dupré: Paraphrase sur le Te Deum
