  1. It seems you might have your reply. I have two LP's of Philip Dore playing the Ampleforth organ in, I think, the Mendelssohn Sonatas. They are around somewhere and I must look them out. I remember being very impressed with the recording - but it is a long time since I listened to them.
  2. I am pleased to hear this news. I know Fr. Peter Green, the vicar, reasonably well and, over a splendid meal some time ago he was lamenting the state of the organ. We haven't seen each other for some time but the restoration will, I'm sure, be a topic of conversation when next we find ourselves around a dining table together.
  3. I was sorry to hear of Peter' Goodman's death. I didn't know him very well but grew up with Roy and knew Malcolm well, as well as doing some playing with Wendy. I remember Mary Goodman telling me, with some pride, that Jennifer had decided not to do music and to read English instead, which, she added, is what she had done at Cambridge. His recitals at Hull were popular and he and Mary, who rode everywhere on her bicycle with her violin/viola strapped to her back, were well liked in the city and made a significant contribution to its musical life. May he rest in peace.
  4. NPOR doesn't give anything - but I don't, in truth, always find that terribly helpful or, indeed, up to date. Are you talking about the Crem on Chanterlands Avenue - near to the University? I went to a funeral there, now fifteen years ago, and don't remember seeing an organ in the chapel - possibly that points to a toaster of some kind! Wish I could be of more help. Hope it goes as well as can be expected.
  5. Be gentle with me - this is my first post! I use 'Sibelius 4' to compose and to write arrangements. I use it every day and am gradually becoming more familiar with the processes and the programme. Initially I found it difficult to use - and still find writing in a 'free time' a bit of a pain! However, the 'Guide' is well laid out, gives clear examples and is relatively easy to use. When I submitted my Ph.D I used 'Capella 2000' - the programme did things that Sibelius, (at that time Sibelius 3), didn't seem to do and that suited the way I wanted material to be presented. Even though I use Sibelius every day I'm not sure I would know how to present that particular material using either version 4, 5 or 6 - all three of which I am reasonably familar with. I think it depends on what you want to do.
