  1. An interesting clip on R4 this morning from HRH Prince C. who is apparently doing a slot later this week on Hubert Parry lead to this. The way he was going on indicated that perhaps we should now be seeing Parry as a unnecessarily neglected genius. I tend to agree with the comments in The Independent though. 'Will probably listen in out of curiosity! A

    Eric Delamarter

If anyone has any copies of music by the 20th Century American composer Eric Delamarter please could they PM me. I am especially interested in the 4 Eclogues. Thanks A
  3. is interesting - even if you do not speak Dutch. A

    A bit of fun

Have a look at this - incidentally, the former 'titulaire' here, Loïc Mallié has succeeded Naji Hakim at La Trinité in Paris. A
  5. It really depends on the voicing etc. - a skilled hand can make anything sound effective, coherent and good on the ear. It is also not wise to judge an organ by it's written spec. - going by what it sounds like is best! A
  6. Thanks for this - but Allegro are still around - here!
  7. I would like to get these can anyone help please? A

    Another new one..

Regarding a similar situation - this was recently relocated successfully to be replaced by one of our host's latest instruments recently. Perhaps the Walker might do similar. A
  10. Have a look here. A
  11. I really liked the Paul Mealor Ubi Caritas - looking at his website he has written some organ music - has anyone on here had experience of any of this? A
  12. Somewhere here I have details of a new 'model' organ - designed possibly by Stepehn Bicknell with a small but interesting stoplist (chorus, strings, flutes and a Cornopean - all enclosed) over two manuals (maybe even an 'either/or' set up) with some nice choices of case design - 'can't remember whether this was put out by Willis or Bicknell but for a village church it would be ideal. Maybe HW/DW can tell more? A
  13. Having been a happy 'village' organist now for the last seventeen years or so I have come to appreciate the smaller gems that lurk in the more rural churches around here. In fact my most regular instrument has just one manual - 88884428 & 16 Pedal. I have not yet got tired of its sound or 'seeming' limitations and do not miss the bigger machines - most of the time! A

    Howells

The Flourish sounds quite fun - 'anyone got a copy? A
  15. Does anyone have the Ditchingham spec. - original? - current (Bowers worked on it not long ago)? A

    Changing tastes

Jennifer Bate playing Dieu Parmi Nous live at Lincoln Cathedral, Jeremy Fillsell's Vierne Symphonies CDs and David M Patrick's CD of Duruflé at Coventry Cathedral. A PS 'Not managed at all with Reger yet!
  17. ....but let that not put anyone off. A
  18. Nigel Allcoat's method - superb! - I use his suggestions all the time - there is/was a booklet available plus CD and also some dedicated improvisation CDs. He comes on here sometimes so maybe can add to this. A
  19. Oooer! - very neat - maybe an iPad is seriously in order. A
  20. This works really well too - also - most of my 'current' music is reduced in size and in an A5 folder in little plastic wallets - handy to carry about and also to have in the car just in case - as long as the eyesight holds out that is. A former organ teacher used to play his Bach from those little pocket scores that you used to be able to get - I still have some of mine somewhere too. A
