  1. As a Head of Music/Performing Arts in a large comp. I would like to stick up for the more enlightened of our breed - I have no students learning the organ at present but would never put any of them off learnng whatever they wanted. We have the full range of 'usual' visiting instrumental teachers and a healthy uptake by the students. AJJ
  2. And Google translation services did not help much either!! AJJ
  3. Thanks for this interesting info. The English is fine! AJJ
  4. Notre Dame has had some 'interesting adventures' though! AJJ
  5. It looks as if the whole thing has had to be taken apart and cleaned for some reason. We are down that way at Easter - 'maybe take a look. AJJ
  6. Hasn't this been replaced by something much smaller now? AJJ

  9. I agree with this - it is up to the customer to request (within reason) what is wanted in the specific situation - and then negotiate with the builder in question. I was involved in a scheme once where we ended up with a new 2 man tracker job complete with console modelled on a T.C.Lewis near Newcastle upon Tyne. It all looked and played very well. Not terraced but I suppose we could have asked.... Someone presumably liked the idea of this: http://npor.emma.cam.ac.uk/cgi-bin/PSearch...E00594&no=2 .........so this is what they got! AJJ PS From another thread but...'probably good to play Star Wars or Thunderbirds on for those more unusual weddings.
  10. The Lincoln reeds had revoicing work done by Harrison in the 1960s AJJ
  11. Or maybe a 'Mander chat line' day at Worcester when it is up and working. AJJ
  12. Now incorporated into the organ at Budleigh Salterton PC http://npor.emma.cam.ac.uk/cgi-bin/Rsearch...ec_index=D04787 AJJ
  13. Oxford maybe when the Aubertin goes in? AJJ
  14. I really enjoyed the 3 man in Dulwich (designed by William McVicker - at his church) - I only heard Honiton once and I must admit that to me at least it lacked a bit of 'awe and wonder'. AJJ
  15. Mind you - with a bit of wiring knowlege one could theoretically achieve real exotica! AJJ
  16. Likewise the Bach from Paul Derrett, the Gade from Vox Humana and your Gigout Paul! AJJ
  17. Thanks Tim and Ian for a splendid afternoon - the organ sounds and looks magnificent. Good also to meet and hear some of the contributors to this 'institution'. AJJ
  18. This link might help too: http://www.stsulpice.com/Docs/consolediag.pdf Also - email Daniel Roth and you could visit if you wanted to. AJJ
  19. It is interesting to know what other people do musically (and otherwise) in a little more detail, if they are prepared to share it. Regular playing once a month - 10.00 Communion - also High Days when required/available. Other than that - 'peripatetic' mostly allowing me to pick and choose. During the day a full time teaching job. More time to practice now - family duties permitting - with an instrument now installed in front room. AJJ
  20. As a matter of interest, any news about the rest of the organ project - ie crossing and westwards - timescale, spec. etc.? AJJ
  21. The current Assistant, Mark Duthie is off to succeed David Gedge at Brecon. AJJ
  22. Me too - I played one off and on for 3 years - treated with care (and liberal use of the octave coupler) it didn't produce too bad a sound. http://npor.emma.cam.ac.uk/cgi-bin/Rsearch...ec_index=T00488 (Though on the survey the Principal Bass should read 4') AJJ
