  1. Mark Blatchley - 'For the Fallen'. AJJ
  2. You just wait - my girls are 9 and 7 and when Mrs AJJ 'instructs' me to take one to church because the two are scrapping - then the fun starts. During hymns the music starts moving around the console, cuddly toys are lost over the choir stalls and the latest joke book is read out far from sotto voce during the sermon. Then of course there is the lack of toilet facilities any nearer than the pub next door! AJJ Congrats. on the latest addition to the CB household by the way!
  3. 'Totally agree - listening to it took the pain out of two sets of Year 7 reports! AJJ
  4. ..........You should also hear Dorothy Papadakos playing it (without percussion - organ only!) from St John the Divine NY on the CD set 'Great Organs of New York' - that is certaily coronary stuff what with the State Tumpet alternating with all the rest of the reeds there. 'Sounds best through headphones! AJJ

Is he not also at present DOM at Crediton PC? AJJ
  6. And a really good job he made of it too!! AJJ
  7. I have a recording of Riga somewhere (backwater Liszt etc.) and while the p to mf effects seem to be limitless and attractive the tutti comes over rather like a slightly distant harmonium! AJJ
  8. This site might help too: http://www.cathedralmusiclinks.org.uk/ AJJ
  9. Off topic but wasn't there a situation at a major establishment some years ago when the advisor expressed his desire for the DOM post and was appointed. AJJ
  10. Oooer - thanks - I will investigate!! A
  11. Please could someone explain the advantage of this - in short words! Thanks AJJ
  12. Reggae toccata - sounds good! AJJ
  13. Many thanks for this. AJJ
  14. This looks rather fine - is there a website or photos - or even soundbites? AJJ
  15. I have a feeling this was aired recently elsewhere on this board - 'can't remember where though. I am not sure whether any final answer to the question was forthcoming - rather a 'wish list' and possible reporting of more concrete suggestions. AJJ
  16. 'Same sized one here. AJJ
  17. 'Best to all from here too. A
  18. I listened again to the Priory recording of Dame G W at the RFH - 'no problem with the playing or recording but some of the sounds are distinctly odd - especially smaller combinations, solo combinations etc. It seems to me that as PD writes above - it works well in large chunks but less well 'under the microscope' so to speak. AJJ
  19. 'Did a wedding today and was on the 'cast list' in the order of service - along with the Rector and string quartet! AJJ
  20. I played the piece to my wife and her immediate reaction was that it was based on the theme music to The Flintstones! AJJ
  21. 'Got it - thanks both! AJJ
  22. 'Tried this but I only managed to find the Christmas Eve Radio 4 broadcast (albeit on the Radio 3 page) where the announcer chips in over the first bars - then the whole thing ends! AJJ
  23. I missed this on Christmas Day and the BBC replay on line was not including it - how was it? AJJ
