Peter King at Bath Abbey plays his music quite a bit and has worked with him in Prague. He has recorded some of it on the Klais at Bath - 'very exciting sounds generally - he played the Finale from Sunday Music at a BIOS 'do' not long after the organ went in - an amazing performance!

I 'pre arranged' for a colleague to interrupt one of my lessons in a similar way recently - it was a 'Tutor' session not Music I hasten to add. The kids were so startled when he came in and threatened to thump me that not one moved a muscle - few were able to describe accurately what happened afterwards either.

And at Lincoln (as I have written before) where they can also just be used as 'super' Great reeds occasionally. 'Tried this once though at Salisbury though and it did not work - nice stops but much power!! The friend who was playing was mercifully not of a nervous disposition.

This may have turned up somewhere else but the new Thomas Trotter Regent CD is marvellous - 'sounds like a different instrument - splendid playing of course too!

I like the St Pauls Cathedral Chancel Tubas - 'not sure how much is the voicing or the acoustic - Smart in B flat sounded marvellous many years ago when I sang there in a visiting choir.

An excellent version if you want all the excitement but not quite as much of the 'technical torture' of the Lemare - available at a very reasonable price from here. David Patrick has also done an nice (and not over difficult) arrangement of the J.S.Bach - Sinfonia to Cantata 29 - published by these.

Nigel McClintock perhaps? The organ there now is rather splendid - Kenneth Jones worked on it recently - West end, 4 Man., terraced console etc. The spec. doesn't seem to have made it on line yet though.

I hope that this is allowed but check this out and please sign if you feel the urge to. After a quick scroll through the names it seems that some already have!

I used to teach up the road from here back in the late 1970s/early 1980s - I played the organ quite a lot. It was the same man - I never liked it much though I am sure Trevor Tipple's work improved it somewhat.

I have just spotted this and will probably buy it - but elements of its content can only be played on a SACD machine. Can anyone advise as to whether this is the way things are going now - is it worth buying a SACD player to connect up to my system to replace my fairly cheap CD player or do I need a completely new system? Also - can they be played on a PC and what about iTunes etc.? Judging by the music, instrument and player there might possibly be one or two others on here in the same predicament.
Thanks in advance!

There is a set from Westminster Abbey on Virgin Classics with Martin Neary conducting and Andrew Lumsden playing that I believe still takes some beating.

I don't think I'd want them all though - any more than a selection from any set would drive me barmy!
Isn't something small going into the Scott case in the crossing (along with the 32s) as well as a second new large nave instrument - or is this what you are discussing?
