James DID move down to Tewkesbury, and its my own personal opinion, that he is one of the top organist/ choir trainers in the UK. Am a tad biased, as have known him and his wife, Sylvia for many years, since he first came to Durham :-)

Is pcnd retiring or moving on? He's been looking after the party horns for quite a while.

May I say how much I miss pcnd5584's erudite and knowledgeable contributions to this forum...

Maybe as assistant. Church website says that the current DoM has been there, on his second spell as organist, since 1994.

I did gather from the gentleman in question that he is helping out there in an unofficial capacity as and when needed, although that seems to be most weeks. He does appear to be very content.

My wife sees pcnd's posts on Facebook and he does indeed seem to be very content.  I believe that he was organist at Wimborne, but not choirmaster, although I stand to be corrected on that point.

You are correct.

That is what I, too, have been informed. Subsequent to his accident and other serious health issues last year, these are things which cannot be taken lightly. Despite all this, and once out of intensive care and back at the helm, I was told he did not miss a single practice with the boys. Commitment and dedication, indeed.

He will need to pace himself, so that he returns fit to take up the reigns as he draws towards the end of his distinguished tenure.
